NEW YORK (WCBS) – A lady jumped from the sixth-floor balcony of her family’s apartment to escape a fire raging within.

Household mates say the hearth started at about 6 p.m. Wednesday. Mahogany McBride, 8 many years outdated, was staying watched by an aunt though her mother was out of town.
Witnesses say the aunt was out in the hall as the hearth pressured the lady out to the balcony.
Firefighters say it was there Mahogany was forced to make the final decision to jump.
“She landed on the filth,” Deputy Chief Anthony Montera stated. “I believe she was conscious sufficient to purpose for the dirt and not the pavement.”
Mahogany landed about 60 toes below, hurt but alive as people today rushed to help her.
Darian, a previous classmate of Mahogany, life in the very same setting up and talked with her briefly just before paramedics arrived.
“I was like ‘Mahogany, are you Ok?’ but she was just crying,” Darian Alvarez stated.
Mahogany’s legs were being crushed in the incident, and she was taken to a clinic the place she faces what is predicted to be a lengthy restoration.
“She’s braver than me mainly because I really do not assume I would’ve jumped,” claimed Gloria Jones, a nearby resident.
